yOUR Community 2019

Since 2016 we have organized several events and activities for and with refugees in Dresden in the project series yOUR Community. Now many of the former fugitives have been living in Dresden for quite some time. Even though the arrival and integration process is far from being completed, we would like to expand our circle of participants and involve more people who have either always lived here or for a long time or who migrate to Dresden without a refugee background.

National affiliation plays a subordinate role in yOUR Community for the individual person, as does gender or age.

The three activities around which yOUR Community has developed continue to be at the centre: monthly meetings and hikes/excursions to the Dresden countryside as well as a weekly dance and gymnastics course.

In order to achieve an opening to other target groups through new, innovative formats, we would like to link yOUR Community even more strongly to the activities and projects of Kultur Aktiv e.V. - a process that we started with some success in 2018 and which we are continuing. In cooperation with the association project Vertovism, participants of yOUR Community will speak poetry in their different languages of origin within the framework of the Sound Atlas 'Poetry of the World'. Their recordings will be presented in autumn 2019 at the event 'Morphonic Lab'. This offers our project participants opportunities for cultural participation, while the result reflects the linguistic diversity of the people living in Dresden. A fifteen-week theatre club in which the participants can express their ideas and performances in free improvisation will also be new to the programme. This interaction format supports the activation of personal potentials and thus the participants' willingness to learn and integrate. The workshop will be filmed and documented. In June we will enrich the event island of Kultur Aktiv at the street festival Bunte Republik Neustadt (BRN) by creating our own stand with interactive and integrative offers for all festival visitors. In September we will again be present at the small art festival Neustadt Art Festival (NAF) and will make it possible to experience international exchange in the footsteps of Kultur Aktiv as well as to explore and overcome borders, e.g. by visiting the multicultural street festival Barevná Planeta in Ústí Nad Labem.

We cordially invite all those interested to take part in the various events.
