Yuri Mechitov – Farewell to the past – Things that were once with us – Vernissage on 02.06.2017

The exhibition “Farewell to the past – Things that were once with us” is in co-operation with the OSTRALE 2017. You will also be able to expect Mechitov’s photo works in our group exhibition “Follow the Sign – Urban Spaces in the East” on the 15th anniversary of the Kultur Aktiv e.V. in the Kulturrathaus der Stadt Dresden.

Yuri Mechitov was born in 1950 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. He became known as a photographer and friend of the master-director Sergo Parajanov and he was also acquainted with Andrej Tarkowski. His works has been exhibited in over 20 solo and 60 group exhibitions all over the world. We have been cooperating with Yuri for several years in various projects. His collaboration with the Filmverband Sachsen e.V. was curated by our member Uwe Penckert the cinema Ost Dresden. Also the exhibition “Armenia / Georgia – Insight / Out”, organized by Mirko Sennewald and Holger Wendland, was awarded by the homonymous prize of the Pessoa translator Ines Koebel.
